Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdukadir Mohammed

Tension has emerged within the Bauchi State caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the National Assembly over the reported plan by Governor Bala Mohammed to defect to the party.
The disagreement followed a closed-door meeting in Abuja, where lawmakers expressed divergent views on the political implications of the governor’s possible move.
To manage the situation, the caucus resolved to constitute a special committee to interface with stakeholders and articulate its position on the anticipated defection.
Acting Secretary of the caucus, Dabo Ismail, said the committee would define conditions for the governor’s entry into the party and serve as the official channel for consultations with party leadership and other stakeholders.
He noted that while members are open to welcoming Bala Mohammed, there is a need for proper engagement and transparency in handling the process.
However, the development has exposed dissatisfaction within the caucus, with its chairman and Senator representing Bauchi North, Sama’ila Dahuwa, faulting the APC national leadership for what he described as lack of consultation.
Dahuwa warned against imposing decisions on party members, insisting that due process must be followed to preserve unity within the party.
The caucus also resolved to formally communicate its concerns to the national leadership, stressing the need to carry state stakeholders along in any decision affecting the party’s structure in Bauchi.
