Governor Uba Sani’s administration has made significant strides in improving healthcare in Kaduna State through strategic investments in rural infrastructure and nutrition.
The state’s 785 rural road projects have reduced travel time to primary healthcare centers, eliminated delays in emergency referrals, and ensured the last-mile delivery of essential medicines. ¹
Honourable Commissioner of Information, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki,
asserted this while addressing media executives and editors at the ongoing Kaduna State–UNICEF high-level engagement on strengthening media partnership for improved healthcare held in Zaria.
Maiyaki emphasized that these efforts are deliberate health strategies, driving real health improvements across the state. The ₦750 million investment in Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) is strengthening child nutrition and survival, particularly in underserved communities.
Improved connectivity is supporting routine immunization, antenatal care, and community outreach, helping residents access care promptly. Kaduna’s nutrition initiative makes it the first sub-national government in Nigeria to commit domestic resources at this scale to RUTF, improving early detection and treatment of severe acute malnutrition. ²
Malam Ahmed Maiyaki stressed the media’s critical role in amplifying accurate, timely, and people-centered health information, saying, “When communities are connected, health services follow. When nutrition is prioritized, children survive and thrive.”
