The Programme Manager, North East Arid Zone Development Programme (NEAZDP), Dr. Mulima Idi Mato, alongside management and technical staff, visited Yusufari Emirate and Local Government Councils for advocacy on dangers of deforestation, and climate change response strategies, on Wednesday.
The Programme Manager emphasised on tree planting and use of efficient and clean energy cooking techniques, aiming at reducing excess carbon emissions, combating desertification, land degradation and drought.
The NEAZDP team also visited the central nursery for raising seedlings established by NAGGW, where the duo are planning to collaborate, and work towards production of seedlings for plantation, other agro-forestry activities, and livelihoods support programmes.
In his response, the Emir of Yusufari, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Muhammad Ibn Zakariya commended NEAZDP for its invaluable interventions to rural development and people’s livelihoods for more than three decades.
