Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, yesterday assured that the February Presidential elections and other elections in the country would be free fair and credible.

Moro, gave the assurance at the headquarters of the ministry in Abuja while briefing news men on the readiness of the federal government to secure lives and property of citizens before during and after the elections.

“It is necessary to address the panic by some Nigerians and to let them know that the government is prepared and ready to provide adequate security for Nigerians to exercise their franchise.

“In spite of the anxiety, Nigerians have no cost to fear. The anxiety as to whether peace will prevail is unwarranted. Nigerians should be law abiding and conduct themselves peacefully. Elections and leaders will come and go but the country will remain. It is a day of love and all of us should show that love.

He said various security officers have been “sufficiently oriented to ensure civil tranquillity before during and after the elections.

The minister also called on all the candidates to accept defeat if they lose.

“The choice of Nigerians will be respected. And if the President loses, he will accept the will of the people”.

On foreigner’s interference, the minister said the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) will ensure that the border corps collaborates with other security agencies to increase surveylace so as to secure the borders.
