The resolution of the Federal government for primary schools to adopt the usage of mother tongue as a method of teaching has been described as “a right step towards the right direction”.
Recalled that the ministers at the federal executive council meeting last week Wednesday resolved that mother tongue be adopted in Nigerian schools to improve teaching skills among the young stars.
In an interview with the journalists in Yola weekend Mal. Isah Labaran, Head Teacher, Capital primary school Jimeta-Yola expressed delight with the development, noting that the inclusion of the mother tongue at the primary level will help in giving the pupils quick understanding of their subjects of studies.
Labaran applauded the decision, saying that teachers of various subjects would now use the original language of their pupils in teaching which will easily pass the messages accurately without the stress of translating from one language to the other.
