As part of his effort to ensure healthy condition of Jigawa citizens, governor Muhammad Abubakar Badaru expended over N18 billions for the financing of health sectors in 2021.
This was announced by the permanent secretary Jigawa state ministry of health Dr Salisu Mu’az while briefing news men on the achievement recorded for the year 2021, organized by Jigawa state correspondents chapel at manpower development institute, Dutse.
He explained that, the health sectors appropriations for the year 2021 was N28,268,927,000 representing 14 percent of the state budget.
According to him, the actual funds released for capital and recurrent expenditures for the sector was N18,693,125,000 representing 88 percent of the health sector appropriations.
Dr Salisu Mu’az maintained that, the formal sector Contributory Healthcare Scheme was operated in 182 health facilities comprising two tertiary health centres, 12 secondary health centres, 156 primary health centres and 12 private health facilities.
The permanent secretary added that, a total of 223,807 enrollees, comprising 44,428 principals and 179,379 dependents benefitted from the scheme.
“ A grand total of direct funds disbursed to the facilities in 2021 stands at N993,371,717.24 equivalent to N504,958,850.00 for PHC, N361,045,362.24 for SHF, N52,766.400.00 for THCs and the sum of N74,601,100.00 for PHF in the state”, he said.
