Jigawa budget review did not affect nutrition funds‎-Official

Despite the cut-down of the initial 2020 budget of Jigawa State due to the Covid – 19 pandemic, the amount allocated to nutrition still remains at the initial amount.
This was confirmed by the Permanent Secretary Jigawa State Budget and Economic Planning, Muhammad Alhassan Marke when the ISMPH, CISLAC and ABF team paid an advocacy visit to him in his office over the weekend.
He explained during the review of the budget, the state government deliberate on the nutrition budget and also discussed on the percentage of mal-nourished children and lactating mothers and how it will jeopardise the future of the state.
“After our discussion with the state executive on the nutrition budget and how the budget will make a positive impact to our people, the government decide to retain the sum of N160million as it is” , Marke said.
He then assured that soon the implementation of the budget would commence as many projects have already been designed like the MASAKI programme among other programmes.
While speaking earlier on behalf of International Society for Media in Public Health (ISMPH),Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) and Aisha Buhari Foundation (ABF) comrade Muhammad Musbahu Basurka commended the state government for this effort.
Comrade Basurka then urged the state government faster the release the fund for full implementation to save the lives of thousands of pregnant women and children from the risk of malnutrition in the state.
