Kaduna State Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe has applauded the role of the Kaduna State Chapter of the Federation of Muslim Women Association in Nigeria ( FOMWAN) in women’s development, saying, their role positively affects families and the nation at large.
She asserted this during the 29th edition of the 2024 annual closing Ramadan lectures with the theme —Economic Hardship and Societal Menace, A way Forward: the Islamic Perspective, organised by the Kaduna State Chapter of the Federation of Muslim Women Association in Nigeria ( FOMWAN), yesterday.
Kaduna State Deputy Governor, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, has said it is the responsibility of women and mothers to ensure the training and upbringing of their children in the society, adding that women must educate their children and give them good health care.
According to her women and youths must engage in skill acquisition to become self-reliant and have less dependence on the government.
She explained that everyone has a role to play to get out of the present economic situation.
She said that the Kaduna State Government had taken a bold step in reducing the current economic hardship ravaging the people by assisting business owners, especially women and youths in the state.
While urging women to ensure that they avail themselves of what they had learned from the lectures and during Ramadan to impact their lives, she thanked FOMWAN for organizing the lectures.
Speaking earlier, the Amir FOMWAN, Kaduna State Chapter, Nafisat Musa Isah said that the annual lecture was part of FOMWAN’s activities to enlighten, sensitize and educate the Muslim Ummah.
She stated that the Federation of Women Association in Nigeria (FOMWAN) hasbeen actively serving the communities since its establishment in I985 with its presence in all 36 states in Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.
Isah noted that the Association had been at the forefront of empowering and supporting women, youths and the less privileged in the society.
According to her, the main reason for choosing the topic of the lecture was to educate people on how to reduce the present economic hardship confronting Nigerians irrespective of their financial status.
She thanked all members of FOMWAN and their patron for making this year’s lecture a reality.
On his part, the Guest Lecturer, Dr. Ibrahim Abudullahi in his paper presentation underscored strategic measures for the country to exit from the present economic hardship made quotations of some verses in the holy Quran, and highlighted the significance of supplications.
Dr Ibrahim Abudullahi urged Nigerians to persevere, saying it is prohibited to engage in corrupt acts because of the current hike in the cost of living.
