Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin-Kebbi, Kebbi state has matriculated a total of 4,374 fresh students for its 2014/2015 academic year.

Delivery his speech at the matriculation ceremony, the newly appointed Rector of the institution, Arch. Muhammad Sani Aliyu, said discipline and dress code are ethics of the polytechnic which every new students of the school must abide by.

He said the problem of indecent dressing in the institution has become a very disturbing trend adding that the unfortunate situation has prompted the management of the school to come up with a dress code for the students and appointed a “Dress Code Task Force” to ensure its compliance.

The Rector regretted that it was unfortunate that some students have continued to abuse the dress code principle, adding that “henceforth, Heads of Departments, Lecturers, Senior Staff and the Polytechnic Security Personnel are mandated to turn back any student who violates it.

On Examination malpractice, the Rector said the worst enemy of any institution of learning is examination malpractice.

He said the Polytechnic will continue to apply severe sanctions against any staff or students found to have engaged in or aiding and abetting examination malpractices.

Aliyu therefore warned staff and students to stay away from social vices such as drug abuse and cultism, and that anyone caught will face the wrath of the law.
