Kogi State would soon conduct a ground-breaking ceremony of the 225 000 tonne annual municipal solid waste recycling plant in the state. Chris Akomas, Executive Chairman CANA Resources Nigeria Limited, disclosed this during a visit to Kogi State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, in in Lokoja.

Briefing Awoniyi, Akomas said the project, which will be completed in the next twelve months, had environmental care of Denmark and Sweden as its technical partners.

He said aside providing a clean environment for Kogi State, the plant would provide employment for people of the region.

According to Akomas, the processing plant will use municipal solid waste to produce energy and organic fertilizers and other bye products.

He said the plant technology is unique and would help check the major problem of waste coming from homes and other areas to create wealth.

Awoniyi meanwhile said cleanliness of the environment was dear to the current state government.

He described the efforts to produce a recycling plant as noble assured the CANA Resources Limited and other investors to take advantage provided by the state and invest.

Awoniyi also promised the organization a working relationship that would be peaceful and secured for their investment.
