Farmers in Kwali area council of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been urged to form cooperative societies, in order to enable them benefit from government agricultural facilities.
Making this point, Chairman of Kwali area council, Danladi Chiya, disclosed that his administration had mapped out series of agricultural programmes for the peasant farmers across the 10 wards of the council to ensure that farmers in the area are supported to have a good output this year.
Chiya, who spoke during a visit to Kwali Farmers Association at Noma Tushin Arziki village, added that the council administration has been holding meetings with the leaders of herders and farmers in the area for mutual understanding and peaceful co-existence in the area.
Earlier, chairman of the Peasants Farmers Association, Kwali chapter, Mr. Danladi Mohammed, had commended the council leadership for providing agro chemicals and tractor hiring scheme.
He therefore solicited for fertiliser, at an affordable price, to enable farmers record bumper harvest this year.
