The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has successfully adopted Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms in resolving the youths clash between the Kwangila and Ketaren-Gwari area in Minna, Niger state capital.

In a press statement made available to newsmen from the office of the Command’s the Public Relations officer, Mohammed Rabi’u Muti in Minna, said a clash broke out between the two communities, prompting the NSCDC to intervene and restore normalcy.

 Personnel of the NSCDC, who were nearby on official assignment, were instructed to intervene, and upon arrival, they found a crowded scene and managed to disperse the crowd.

The Command’s spokesperson further explained that the State Commandant, Adamu Abdullahi Kambra, called on the public to disregard any false claim circulating on social media, alleging that the NSCDC shot someone; instead, the Command was working tirelessly to resolve the issue through ADR mechanism.

In resolving the clash, the state Commandant explained that the command employed several conflict resolution mechanisms, including: Mediation, Problem-Solving strategy, communication and collaboration.

The statement further added that a high-level meeting is scheduled to take place soon, in conjunction with the community leaders to consolidate the peace process. The Command is committed to transparency and peace keeping, assuring to do everything in their powers to ensure that peace and order are maintained in Minna metropolis.

“We appreciate the cooperation and understanding of the people of Minna and other security agencies and we assure them of our commitment to maintaining peace and order in the state”, the statement concluded.
