NOA seeks FCTA support on attitudinal change initiatives

In order to attain the main objective of its newly introduced attitudinal change programme tagged “Do the Right Thing, Avoid Dirt and Be Clean”, the Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr. Mike Omeri, is seeking the support of the authorities of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCT).

He said the Programme, which is a follow up on the previous “Do The Right Thing” initiative, has already started yielding significant results; key among them being the total re-orientation of Nigerians on the importance of peace and unity of Nigeria.

Omeri, who made the plea when he led a delegation of NOA top management staff, on a courtesy visit to the minister of state for FCT, Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide , yesterday, noted that the consequences of the dirty environment was the devastating flood that had continued to ravage some parts of the country.

According to him, they have traversed round states of the federation, and each state has been directed to organize the flag off of the programme simultaneously.

“Essentially, we have launched the War Against Indiscipline (WAI) brigade, which we are using as community support brigade. Their duty is to persuasively assist communities to enforce total values that will assist communities to make informed decisions and achieve the desired progress”. Mr. Omeri explained.

The NOA boss assured that the minister that with the total support of the FCTA and other stakeholders, the Agency will no doubt achieve a great result in line with the transformation agenda desire of the government.

Also, Omeri pleaded for logistical support from the FCT, in terms of provision of office spaces, utility vehicles and other assistance that will assist the Agency deliver efficient services to Nigerians.

NOA has over five thousand staff strength, that speak over 520 local languages and offices located across all local governments in Nigeria.

Responding, the minister of state for FCT, commended the NOA DG under whose leadership the agency had undergone a total transformation that had resulted in portraying positive image of Nigeria within and outside.

She described NOA as unseen heroes of the civil service who had gone round Nigeria, penetrating every single state and local government in the country- disseminating information and communicating to the people, the activities and policies of government.
