An Ilaro Chief Magistrate Court on Wednesday remanded three persons in prison custody over the death of a 21 year old, Olufemi Amosun, during a political violence which greeted Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s tour to Ilaro; the headquarters of Yewa-South local government area of the state.
The governor had just concluded on-the-spot-assessment tour of all the 20 council areas in the state
The suspects according to the charge sheet obtained by Peoples Daily were Fatai Lamidi, Muyideen Salaudeen and Oyeyemi Semiu.
The case with charge number, M/O/156C/2014, the suspects were arraigned before Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Fafowora on a six-count charge bordering on murder, illegal possession of firearms and conspiracy, among others.
According to the charge sheet, the suspects committed offences contrary to and punishable under sections 324, 319(1), 516(1), 88(1)(a) and 63 of criminal code law of Ogun State, 2006.
On the alleged illegal possession of firearms, the prosecution also said the suspects committed offence contrary to, and punishable under section 28(1)(C) of firearms Act Cap R11 law of the federation of Nigeria, 2004.
The Ogun State Police Command had arrested seven suspects in connection with the case while firearms including four pump actions and other dangerous weapons were recovered from the suspects.
Since the case has to do with murder, plea was not taken while the case, upon mention, was subsequently adjourned till November 16, 2014.
