Rotary international, through rotary reproductive maternal and child health disbursed family planning equipment and contraceptives worth N20 million to ten health facilities in each 36 states.
Speaking at the distribution ceremony held at state secretariat Dutse, the National coordinator Rotary Action group professor Emmanuel Adedolapo Lufadeju who was represented by Jigawa state coordinator Hajiya Fatima Abdulhafiz said, ten health facilities benefited with equipment in Jigawa.
He explained that, rotary international collaboration with federal ministry of health embarked on campaign for the reduction of maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality through a long-standing commitments to improve heath in the country.
Professor Dolapo identified some of the commitments as family planning, capacity building of health workers and maternal and perinatal deaths surveillance and response (MPDSR), and community dialogues to improve access to quality essential maternal and newborn health services and medicines.
He maintained that, other programmes include training of sixty journalists, training of Doctors and nurses on obstetric quality assurance across the country.
The national coordinator then warned the beneficiaries to avoid selling of the equipments as according to him it is for people free of charges.
