The South East Good Governance Advocates (SEGGA) has congratulated Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, representing Ideato North/South federal constituency at the House of Representatives on his recent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Action Peoples Party (APP).
SEGGA in a statement jointly signed by its Coordinator and Secretary, Amadi Patrick Ezeocha and Promise respectively said it believes that a country as big as Nigeria should have very viable political options so as to develop a strong political culture that is geared towards providing the dividends of democracy to the people.
The group while lauding the decision of notable politicians like Hon. Ugochinyere to have joined the APP, urged politicians to always avoid taking actions that will polarize the party, to avoid the bug that seems to have caught most of the other opposition political parties.
Furthermore, the leadership of the APP was reminded of the need to always remember their motto which is to build a united and progressive Nigeria where tribe or creed will not be the yardstick.
However, SEGGA cautioned that in trying to forge the coalition, the APP must be very careful not to allow the fifth columnists infiltrate their ranks to sow their usual seed of discord.
“We must advice that in opening the door for Nigerians from all walks of life to come in, APP must be intentional in scrutinizing everyone before admittance. What has happened to some of the already existing political parties that are now in one crisis or the other must be avoided.
“Nigerians deserve to have a government that will be sympathetic to the plight of the ordinary man, and to get such a government means that power must truly return to the people and only the people should decide who leads them through the ballot box in period free, fair and credible elections”, the statement concluded.
