A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto state, Alhaji Nasiru Gidankanawa, has described the recent attack on President Goodluck Jonathan’s convoy as the handiwork of selfish politicians, who were afraid of the level of support and political goodwill of the President.
Gidankanawa, who is the PDP youth leader in Sokoto state spoke at the commencement of the Goodluck Jonathan Volunteers Vanguard in Wamakko local government area of Sokoto yesterday.
He also noted that violence of any kind in politics is capable of destroying the image and popularity of the politicians.
He noted with dismay the rates of violence and political thuggery in the state and some parts of the country, as the handiwork of selfish politicians, who were afraid of the level of support and political goodwill of President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration in the country
The PDP chieftain said the party would continue to remain the same in spite of provocative statements being made by hired political mercenaries and opposition parties in order to cast Jonathan bad light and however cautioned politicians, especially those using religion and ethnicity against the party’s presidential candidate to desist forthwith.
In a remark, the leader of the youths in the area, Alhaji Umar Sifawa, described President Jonathan as the only candidate who is reliable, committed to ensuring peace, unity and cohesion in the country.
