Tragedy struck in Kaduna yesterday, when a truck with registration number, XA 632 Nasarawa state and loaded with cement crushed an eight year-old school girl to death.
The incident, which occurred in Kawo new extension area near Nunu International School, was said to have claimed the life of the eight year-old girl who was on her way to Islamic school.
According to an eyewitness, who said he narrowly escaped the incident, “The incident happened when the trailer parked and was off-loading cement and suddenly we saw it sloping down the road.
“Meanwhile, there was this car that was parked by the road side; and before you know it, the trailer crushed a girl, who was going to Islamic school, to death and went on to crush the parked car and another motorcycle.
“As you can see, the trailer was stopped after running into this shopping complex.
“In fact, I would have been crushed too by the trailer because we were standing at this balcony which was destroyed by the trailer,” he said.
A driver to another trailer, which was conveying cement from Lagos to Kaduna, said the trailer was discovered to be faulty and was managed to reach Kaduna, only for it to have a brake failure at the point of off-loading in Kaduna.
