The Organization of Graduate Unemployed in Nigeria,(Ogun) has urged the Federal Governments to complement efforts of the Non-governmental Organization (NGOs), and private sectors aimed at reducing unemployment, and poverty, and reducing youth restiveness through entrepreneurship.
This is as the organization also called on the government at all levels to recognize Ogun and support them in different forms, I n such a way that the youth can be mobilized for the greater purpose of the country.
Its Secretary General, Ibrahim Yakubu Bello made a call during an awareness walk and award over the weekend, saying “Our primary aim and objective are to support young Nigerian graduates (National Youth Service Corps members) to be self-employed.”
According to him, “Governments should encourage self-employment, organized sectors, NGO or private sectors provide the required forms, support, and infrastructure to ensure that entrepreneurship is encouraged as far as Nigeria is concerned.
While speaking on the individual role to tame the unemployment rate, he noted that if they cannot do it, because of one of two challenges, then philanthropy can equally partner with them.
“We focus on graduates in the sense that, if they are well trained in the areas of entrepreneurship skills with their formal school training, they can employ those that don’t have formal education”.
Speaking further, he explained that youth is the cardinal point of any nation, and if they’re jobless or not engaged, it becomes a menace to society.
