Security operatives have launched manhunt for a vandal who reportedly vandalised some power equipment in Ivue Community, Uromi, Esan North East Local Government of Edo State.
The electricity equipment worth over N50 million (Fifty Million Naira) was allegedly stolen at BEDC premises in Ivue community by vandal who left his mobile phone at the crime scene.
A community source identified as Eubadus, stated that the equipment include; 11KVA Transformer in the community and their 33KVA sub-station.
He revealed that police elders in Uromi Division have been notified after the incident led to power outage in the locality since August 5, 2021.
He also conveyed the assurances of the Ivue community and cooperation with police towards arresting the culprit.
According to him, “The DPO Uromi Division was notified by the Community and the DPO has promised to put all machineries in place to bring the perpetrators to book”.
Reacting, Head Corporate Affairs, BEDC, Mr. Adekunle Tayo, who confirmed the report, lamented the situation and sued for tougher sanctions against vandals to serve as deterrent to others.
