The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nantawe Yilwatda has promised that the party will continue to deepen internal democracy among its members across the states.
Yilwatda who spoke on Thursday when the members of the newly elected National Working Committee (NWC) received their certificates of return from the Convention Planning Committee said the ruling party will continue to operate in a manner that will attract many more Nigerians to desire to join the APC, irrespective of the claims by some opposition parties that are now blaming the ruling party for all their shortcomings.
He further assured the party faithful that the NWC will take it as a point of duty to ensure that all the party’s candidates in the forthcoming 2027 general elections by projecting the things the party has done to reposition the country.
“We will continue to expand the party—keep reaching out, keep engaging, keep mobilising—to increase membership across the country. We must ensure that our party remains strong and focused. We must present clear policies, clear candidates, and a clear direction for Nigeria.
“Our responsibility is to strengthen democracy and build confidence in the political process. We will continue to work hard to ensure that our party remains the platform of choice for Nigerians. We assure you that this party will work towards credible elections and stronger democratic institutions.
“Our duty is to ensure that we deliver results at all levels—governors, senators, members of the House of Representatives and Houses of Assembly. We will put in all our energy and effort to ensure success for our candidates”.
The National Chairman also thanked the Convention Planning Committee for the conducting the exercise in the most peaceful and transparent manner.
“I also congratulate the Convention Planning Committee for an excellent, elegant, well-organized, transparent, and one of the most beautiful conventions ever held in Nigeria. You have raised the bar beyond our imagination. I want to thank you for bringing your experience and selecting some of the best hands for the party.
“Your Excellencies, this convention will go down in history as one without a single litigation. It was almost as if we were at a carnival rather than a convention. The internal wrangling that used to trail conventions was completely absent. The Chairman extends our regards to all your members and express our warmest and deepest gratitude for what you have done for the party. May God bless and reward you and all your members for this service.”
