Wike

The Nigeria Police Force has reopened the national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja, paving the way for a faction of the party aligned with Nyesom Wike to assume control of the facility.
The secretariat, located at Wadata Plaza, had been under lock since November 2025 following violent clashes among rival factions within the opposition party.
Confirming the development, factional National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, said the action was carried out in compliance with valid court orders.
He disclosed that the reopening also covered the party’s presidential campaign office, Legacy House, in Maitama.
In a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, the faction said control of both facilities has now been handed over to the Mohammed-led National Working Committee, with Samuel Anyanwu recognised as National Secretary.
The group commended the police for what it described as professionalism and adherence to due process, noting that the move signaled respect for constitutional order.
It, however, issued a warning against any attempt to disrupt activities at the secretariat, stressing that security agencies are prepared to maintain law and order.
While expressing optimism that the development marks the end of the party’s internal crisis, the faction urged aggrieved members to close ranks and work towards unity.
The statement also acknowledged the role played by Wike, whose backing was described as instrumental to the outcome.
However, the move has drawn criticism from a rival faction loyal to Tanimu Turaki, which faulted the unsealing and described it as an act carried out in contempt.
