The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC)Gombe State Command said it recorded 108 death and 1,078 injuries within 328 crashes in 2024.

The sector commander Mr. Samson Kaura who gave an update while briefing Journalists in Gombe said in 2023, 351 crashes was recorded with a degree of 9.24 percent.

He said vehicles involved in the crashes in 2024 was 328 against 515 in 2023 with a percentage of 28percent.

Mr. Kaura also revealed that the total number of people involved in 2024 was 108 against 2,588 in 2023 with a percentage of 27percent.

According to him, the number of injured which was 1,078 was against that of 1,308 in 2023.

He said economic hardship  has reduced crashes following low turnout of travellers that wish to travel to various parts of the country.

The sector commander while expressing confidence said they will not relent in sensitizing road users on the need to follow rules and regulations while driving.

He warned road users to maintain their speed limit and avoid over loading when embarked on a journey but added that uneccessary over taking is one of the major concern that need to be addressed where motorists over take at sharp bend unnecessarily.

Speaking further he said the command is doing it’s best to ensure that things are done properly to maintain crashes to it’s minimum on Nigeria roads
