By Egena Sunday Ode
Thirteen governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the North on Monday stormed the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where they met with President Muhammadu Buhari, and insisted on their decision to cede the presidential ticket of the party to the South.
Addressing newsmen after the meeting, chairman of the Northern Governors Forum (PGF) and Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, who led the group to the parley in the State House, insisted that president Buhari has not anointed any of the contenders as the party flag bearer for the Presidential election.
He said the President has, accordingly, tasked the governors to meet with the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party with a view to resolving the knotty issues bothering on consensus candidate through a democratic process that is agreeable to all stakeholders.
Governor Lalong who was flanked by 12 of his counterparts, said they told the president of their decision to ensure that power returns to the South for the purpose of equity and unity of the country.
He said the meeting with the NWC has been slated for 5pm Monday.
