143,500 poor, vulnerable to enjoy free healthcare services by Jigawa govt

No fewer than 143,500 vulnerable are to enjoy free Basic healthcare services from Jigawa state government.
This was announced by the Technical adviser to the governor Malam Umar Namadi on health Alhaji Isa Surajo while delivering his speech during a one day town hall meeting with relevant stakeholders at conference hall of new Secretariat, Dutse.
He explained that, the program which is under Jigawa Health Equity Fund (JHEF) is meant to address the health disparities that underlies Nigeria’s health system.
“It is meant for the attainment of the highest level of health for all residents of Jigawa state, where every resident has a fair and just opportunity to attain optimal health regardless of ethnicity, disabilities, gender identity, socioeconomic status, geography or other factors that affect access to Care and health outcomes” Surajo said.
The Technical adviser who said the program that will focus on Provision of Basic Minimum Package of Health Services (BMPHS) to poor and vulnerable population, is in line with state desire to accelerate it’s journey towards achieving Universal Health Coverage.
He maintained that, the target groups must be from poor and vulnerable household including pregnant women, elderly group 65 years to above, people with disabilities, sickle cell disease patient, HIV patient and orphans.
