…Discuss New Security Strategy for the North
Eighteen first-term governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress have declared “unwavering and unequivocal support” for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying his reforms are laying the foundation for a stronger Nigeria.
The governors, meeting in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State under the Progressive Governors Forum, said the President’s “bold, practical, and forward-looking” policies are already changing the country’s economic direction.
Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, who briefed journalists after the meeting, said the forum reviewed its stewardship and agreed to deepen cooperation to tackle the real problems facing their states.
“We are confident that these transformative policies are laying a solid foundation for a more resilient economy, sustainable prosperity, and inclusive national development for the benefit of all Nigerians,” Sani said.
He also explained that security dominated discussions, revealing that the governors resolved to work more closely with security agencies and other stakeholders to protect lives and property across their states.
“We resolved to intensify collaboration with security agencies and other critical stakeholders to strengthen the protection of lives and property and consolidate the gains being recorded in the fight against insecurity,” Sani stated.
He went on to say that the forum has condemned the recent xenophobic attacks against Nigerians in South Africa.
“We equally condemned the recent xenophobic attacks against Nigerians in South Africa and called for the protection of all Nigerians living and working abroad, in accordance with international law and the principles of human dignity and mutual respect,” the Kaduna governor said.
Sani added that the meeting was focused on “deepening cooperation, reviewing our stewardship, and advancing practical solutions to the pressing developmental challenges facing our states and our nation.”
He stressed that collective leadership remains key to delivering inclusive growth and improving the quality of life for citizens.
