As the tempo for the forthcoming 2015 general election continues to rise, Turaki Vanguard, a political support group of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, has commenced a nationwide sensitization tour, aimed at educating the electorates towards voting for the right party and candidates that can deliver.
The tour, according to the group, will be led by its National Coordinator, Chief Oladimeji Fabiyi, who would meet with the zonal caucus leaders, the state and local government coordinators and their secretaries on the importance of sensitizing the electorates to exercise their franchise aright.
A statement by Director of Media and Publicity of the organization, Mr. Soji Bamidele, who said the tour began yesterday (Sunday) with the five states in the northeast of the country, noted that the focus of the campaign was to express the concern of the organization on the rot in governance.
“The organization will advocate for genuine commitment to food security, financial empowerment, security of lives and property and good transport system, among others.
“The attention is focused on the northeast because it has lost more lives and property directly or indirectly as a result of unchecked and preventable action and or inaction of the political leaders,’’ it said.
It insisted that Turaki Vanguard would checkmate greed, selfishness, lack of vision and the tendency of some leaders to exploit the masses through balloting.
During the tour, the statement said the organization would also hold sessions with media and other stakeholders on the need to focus on party, personalities and their programmes.
It said this would go a long way in strengthening democracy and guiding the electorates to make better choices of leaders in any election.
