Former political editor of Peoples Daily newspaper, Mallam Mohammed Isa, has made public his intention to contest for Katsina State House of Assembly seat in the 2015 elections under the platform of the All Progressives Party (APC).

Isa made the declaration at the weekend when he paid a courtesy call to the APC executive officials in Funtua Local Government. He is aspiring to represent Funtua constituency at the state assembly.

According to him, his decision to contest for the seat was informed by his years of experience as a journalist who covered the House of Representatives for a long period of time.

Isa, who now served as Senior Special Assistant on Print Media to the Speaker of the House of Representatives Aminu Waziri Tambuwal said if given the chance, he would bring his wealth of experience on the job as someone who interacted with lawmakers at the federal level, saying he had consulted widely on his ambition.

“My stay in the House of Representatives as a reporter has made me to realize the importance of legislature in our democracy and its role in bringing development to the people.

“After careful consideration and consultations with various stakeholders, I decided to offer my wealth of experience to the service of my people by providing them with effective representation at the state level which is closest to the ordinary citizens,” he said.

Responding, APC chairman in Funtua Local Government, Malam Lawal Sani Matazu expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the aspirant and promised to provide a level playing ground to all aspirants.

Matazu tasked all aspirants and party members to rededicate themselves to the development of the party and be peaceful in their conduct.
