2015 Guber: Ortom promises a new Benue

Former Minister of State, Industry, Trade and Investment, Chief Dr. Samuel Ortom, an aspirant for the Benue governorship seat has unveiled a five-point development agenda for the state.

He listed amongst others, provision of good governance and revenue generation, security, agriculture-driven industrialization, education and health, investment in critical infrastructure as well as focus on gender, women, youth issues and people with disabilities as key points of the agenda.

Chief Dr. Ortom who only resigned from the Federal cabinet to pursue his governorship ambition, said this at the public declaration in Makurdi, pledging that his government will encourage participation by men, women and youth while also reducing the cost of governance through e-governance.

He further said that the state revenue department would be upgraded to a commission as a way of scaling up the internally generated revenue.

The aspirant explained that he will also focus on agriculture-driven industrialization to enhance food security, provide employment, reduce poverty, and enhance the economic growth of the state.
