President Goodluck Jonathan has promised to give ministerial slot and permanent secretary to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)’s indigenes if he is returned into power in 2015.
The President made the promise yesterday when he met with a delegation of indigenes and traditional rulers in the FCT led by the Ministers, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed and Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide, who visited him at the Presidential Villa.
Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers, Onah of Abuja, Alhaji Baba Yunusa, said they were at the seat of power in the show solidarity and appreciation to the President for his developmental strides, most especially as he had transformed the FCT into a modern city.
The royal father pledged the support of the FCT indigenes for President Goodluck Jonathan at the 2015 Presidential election.
Nevertheless, the traditional ruler urged the President to grant the request of the Abuja indigenes by granting them, at least, a ministerial slot to enable them have a sense of belonging in the scheme of things.
The President assured that the government would continue to work with the indigenes to ensure further development and progress of the FCT. His words, “People here are qualified to be Ministers and Permanent Secretaries. When the party is thinking of nominating a minister after the elections, you should be able to get minister”, Jonathan assured the delegation.
The President thanked the delegation and the indigenes who have continued to demonstrate loyalty and support for the administration and assured that if the PDP administration was retained, it would do more for the people of the FCT.

He, however, commended the indigenes for their contributions and support towards the development of education, saying, “We will do our best and we will carry FCT along. Then, you have to give us your votes.”
