2015: Kebbi APC stalwart decries PDP’s alleged stifling of opposition

A  stalwart of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kebbi state, Alhaji Sani Zuro, has decried the attempt by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to stifle the opposition ahead of the 2015 general election.

The APC elder made his feelings known yesterday when the state executive council of the party hosted journalists working in Kebbi state to a dinner marking the breaking of the Ramadan fast which held at the Modiawa Hotel in Birnin Kebbi.

While noting that the APC remains the only viable party that could challenge the ruling party, Zuro however lamented the manner in which the PDP is bent on suppressing any form opposition.

“Look at what is happening in Adamawa and now Nasarawa over the impeachment threats; nobody is saying anything, only God will intervene. We need a leadership that will be fair to all” he said.

He commended journalists in the state for being fair and objective in their reportage, urging them to put more effort as they contribute to the development of the country.

 Also speaking, the state party chairman Barr. Mohammed Maccido expressed his gratitude to the members of Correspondents’ Chapel for reporting the activities of the party daily.

He equally urged working journalist in the state to redouble their efforts through investigative reporting of the activities of the ruling PDP in the state.

 As a gesture of appreciation, the state APC exco donated a refrigerator to the Chapel.

Responding, chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Dauda Shehu of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), thanked the leadership of the party for the gesture.

  He however, promised that the chapel would do all he could to sale out of the party’s activities according rules and regulation by the media.
