2015: Sen Ajadi confirms resignation as Jonathan’s SA

A former Senator representing Kwara South Senatorial district and Kwara State and gubernatorial aspirant under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP),Senator Suleiman Makanjuola Ajadi has confirmed his resignation as Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on National Assembly Matters.

Ajadi who made the confirmation in a statement made available to journalists in Ilorin yesterday through his Media Assistant on “Ajadi 2015 Support Group” , one Alhaji Abdulmajeed Olokooba, said the gubernatorial hopeful had forwarded his resignation letter to the Presidency last week Monday.

He said that the President had acknowledged his immense contributions towards nation building, especially in cementing cordial relationship between the legislature and the executive arm of government even as he wished him successes in all his future endavour.

“Our attention has also been drawn to the insinuation making the round that the Presidency has rejected Senator Ajadi’s resignation. This is far from the truth. The fact still remains that he (Ajadi) has since resigned his appointment in line with the PDP constitution and the resignation was accepted by the President.

“There is no iota of truth in the rumuour that the Presidency directed all its appointees who had resigned recently to return back to their respective offices. The orchestrated insinuation was the handiwork of the people who do not want to submit themselves to ballot boxes but believe in imposition of gubernatorial candidate by their god mother.”

The Media Assistance to Ajadi also disclosed that Senator Ajadi has obtained the PDP intent form to contest the 2015 governorship election in Kwara State and promised to give priority attention to infrastructure development of the State in all ramifications when elected governor.

According the statement, the former senator who represented Kwara south senatorial district in the National Assembly between 1999 and 2005, pledged to revolutionise the agriculture sector, promising to empower the rural farmers with a view to ensuring food security in the state.

Ajadi who was a Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development assured that he will create job opportunities for the teeming unemployed youths in the state.

The statement quoted Ajadi as saying that “today, there is massive unemployment among the youths, especially university graduates who are either engaged as political thugs or are giving meagre stipends that is not even enough to keep body and soul together. The present administration in the state paid a paltry sum of N5,000 as monthly salary in its employment programme. What can this meager salary buy?”

“My focus will also be on the provision of portable water both in state capital and the rural areas. The water will flow again as it was with and boreholes sunk across the state when I was a Senator.

“Despite the huge resources expended on the Asa Dam by successive administrations, the taps are still dry as water is not running in any homes in the state.”

Ajadi appealed to the national leadership of the PDP to be wary of the underground design by some people who have concluded arrangements to concoct another d elegate list different from the authentic one that emanated from the congress.
