2015: Water Resources Minister tasks Christians to change Nigeria’s political landscape

Date:

From Muhammad Ibrahim, Kaduna

Christians have been tasked to participate actively in politics come 2015, so as to change the political landscape of the country, Minister of Water Resources, Mrs Sarah Ochekpe has said.

According to her, it is time for Nigerians, particularly Christians, to do away with the notion that politics is dirty.

Mrs Ochekpe, who spoke yesterday in Kaduna at the 48th Annual Convention of the United Church of Christ in Nigeria (HEKAN), said there are Christians who think that politics is not for them and so are not willing not participate.

“Some of them think that they should not contest because politics is dirty. But unless good people begin to participate in politics, then politics will remain dirty.

Nigeria is in need of people who fear God, who desire the good for all Nigerians irrespective of their affiliation; people who are willing to make sacrifices for the good of all and serve.

“So, Christians should not shy away from participating in politics; of course, along with other well-meaning Nigerians who are willing to take Nigeria to the height that God desires it to be,” she said.

She also tasked those who may be lucky to be voted for come 2015, to ensure that resources allocated for projects should be committed to same and ready for development that will impact on the people, saying “it is not for them to amass wealth but be ready to work for the betterment of the country”.
