The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Gombe State has approved 13 additional continued voters’ registration (CVR) centers ahead of 2019 general elections.
Resident Electoral Commissioner, Alhaji Umar Ibrahim, made the confirmation yesterday in Gombe while meeting with stakeholders. He said the approval of additional of 13 centers in the state was aimed at reducing difficulties faced by voters during registration.
According to him, continued voters’ registration exercise in some areas is generating set back, as some voters could not register and get their voter cards due to bad terrain and distance to the registration centers.
He said the commission, in first, second and third quarters, had so far registered 46,798 voters in the state; adding that additional provision of more centers reflect the three senatorial district.
Speaking further, the commissioner called on voters not to hesitate to collect their Permanent Voters’ Cards at the commission.
While addressing the stakeholders, the commissioner also said 51,000 Permanent Voter Cards are ready for collection, noting that the Commission also have 47,000 outstanding Permanent Voter Cards.
He explained that 10 centers were approved by the national headquarters, while 3 were created at the state level.
