2019: Women group drums support for female candidates

Following release of dates for collection of forms for all political parties by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), women have been tasked to cease the opportunity to participate activity by indicating interest in any political office of their choice.
Making the call in Abuja, women under the aegis of Noble Women Movement for Buhari and Osinbajo (NWM4BO), in a release said the call has become necessary in view of glaring marginalization of women in all tiers of government.
The release issued by the Director of Publicity of the group, Rachael Ahmadu, stated that the call was made by the National President of the Noble Women Movement for Buhari and Osinbajo, Mfawa Usani, stressing that the group is ready to throw its weight behind noble women.
She, however, revealed that the group will soon embark on grassroots mobilization for the actualization of President Buhari/Osinbajo’s second term in office, adding that state and local government executives will be inaugurated to achieve grassroots mobilization.
“We are calling on our women to cease this opportunity of the release of dates for collection of forms for all political parties by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to pick form and contest for any offices of their choice.
“Women are crying of marginalization in the political space. However, this is another opportunity for them to bridge the gap by their active participation in all political activities including expression of interest form. The Noble Women Movement for Buhari/Osinbajo is ready to galvanize support for noble women across the federation.
“Just as we are mobilizing support for the actualization of our President and his able vice, we are equally prepared to support our own that truly identify with us. Those female political aspirants who share in our vision and mission will be fully supported.
“In a matter of weeks, we are going to inaugurates state and local government executives for grassroots mobilization because we cannot achieve results by sitting in the Federal Capital City. We have to go to the grassroots,” Usani affirmed.
The statement also called on members of the group to remain steadfast and committed with a view to ensuring the objective of re-election bid of the incumbent administration becomes achievable project.
It could be recalled that INEC had released August 17 to August 24, 2018 as dates for collection of forms for all political parties.
