Criticisms have continued to trail the endorsement of Benue State Speaker Titus Uba as aspirant of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP for Tiv speaking areas of the State.

It should be noted that Uba had emerged at a stakeholders’ meeting at the Government House, Makurdi on Sunday 17 April, 2022.

However, a frontline governorship contender Dr. Paul Angya in a statement signed by his Media Coordinator Clement Tsar expressed his continued bafflement at the emerging scenario regarding the announcement of the consensus candidate.

The former Director General Standard Organization of Nigeria, SON said the process that produced the consensus  candidate appeared to be ‘opaque’ and not as ‘transparent’ as required to provide quality leadership for the State, adding that there is need to examine the issues of merit and tenets of democracy which are expected to be enshrined in the process in order for it to reflect the wishes of the generality of the party membership.
