2023: Emulate APC, engage more youths – PDP youths to govs, BoT

Ahead of the 2023 election, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Youth Frontiers, has called on the party’s leadership to give greater roles to youths.
Comrade Austin Okai, the National Coordinator and leader of the group said PDP’s Board of Trustees (BoT), Governors Forum and National Executive Committee should emulate APC in deciding the future of PDP.
Okai said PDP’s leadership should prevent previous mistakes of ignoring the youths because they are the cornerstone of the former ruling party.
In a statement he signed on Wednesday, Okai said PDP leadership should include the youths in preparing for the upcoming National Convention.
He noted that youths have laboured towards the progress of the party, hence they can no longer be ignored.
According to him, such move would assure Nigerians that PDP believes in the youths.
He said “For so long, the voice and role of youths in the affairs of the party has been minimal compared to the ruling APC which have made the youths of their party an intrinsic part of the party.
“As the party prepares for the fourth convention, effort should be made to include the youths in the planning and organising committees that will be responsible with the responsibility of ensuring a free, fair and transparent convention.
“The BOT, Governors Forum and NEC of the party must ensure that a certain quota be set aside for the youths of the party in the convention planning and organizing committee.
“As we prepare for the 2023 general election, the BOT of the party should give greater roles to the youths to play in deciding the fortunes of the party. Greater involvement of the youths in party affairs will strengthen the belief that PDP is still a youth party and not just in words but action”.
