The supporters of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, under the auspices of 2023 NewTribe Project, have declared that Nigerians, and not any purported agreement will determine who becomes the next president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Besides, the campaign team had insisted Nigerian entity will not be up for sale by any political gladiator on the road to the 2023 presidential campaign.
The NewTribe Project, a conglomerate of Osinbajo Presidential Support Groups on Saturday formally unveiled the campaign train in Kano, to kick start nationwide train to support the presidential race of the vice president.
Addressing a world press conference on Sunday at Bristol palace in Kano, one of the team leaders of the NewTribe Project, Hon. Simon Kawu stressed that Nigerians will not fall prey to any negotiation on who become the next leader of the country but rather take their destiny headlong.
Simon, who is representing Shango/Kantingo Federal constituency of Gombe state, at the house of representatives, was responding to the question of whether or not Professor Osinbajo would respect a purported agreement to hand over power at the end of his tenure.
“ On the issue of negotiating Nigeria, that could be in previous practice but for now, let me say Nigeria is no longer for sale. For now, Nigerians and the younger generation must decide and determine who leads them and not those who will decide their future behind them.
“ NewTribe Project say no to any agreement before this generation. We call on Professor Osinbajo and will look forward to him yielding to our call by declaring to join the race to the presidency in 2023. He has the competence and capacity to continue and consolidate on the achievements recorded by President Muhammadu Buhari administration”. Simon maintained.
Hon. Simon who countered another inquiry about who was bankrolling the campaign train said “ NewTribe is piloting new vision and new direction for Nigeria and we don’t care who is bankrolling the movement. All we care so much about is who he’s taking Nigeria to a greater height.
“ Nigerians are no longer interested in where a candidate comes from, tribe or religion. That is the vision of NewTribe. We believe in the candidature of Professor Osinbajo, whether he’s Muslim or Christian, whether he’s Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa, all we know is, our candidate is the embodiment of the right character that Nigeria needs to stir the ship of the country”.
Another leader of the team, Professor David T. Ejenobo urged the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), to make the best choice and nominate Osinbajo as presidential candidate for 2023 for consolidation and continuity of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
While vouching on the credibility of the Vice President to sustain the development stride Nigeria had made under the present government, Professor David claimed that Osinbajo possesses the ingenuity to lead the country out of the protracted security threat and economic woe.
