The 2023 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Nasarawa State, Dr. Emmanuel David Ombugadu, has resigned his membership of the party after a month-long speculation.
Ombugadu, also a former two-term member of the House of Representatives, made this known in a letter addressed to the Chairman of the party in his Ikka Wangibi ward of Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Area.
According to the letter, dated February 28, 2026, the decision was prompted by the lingering party’s internal conflicts and leadership tussle.
He expressed sincere and unreserved gratitude to the party for according him the platform to serve his dear state and country, Nigeria.
Peoples Daily reports that Ombugadu began his political career with the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), when he was elected in 2011 to represent Akwanga/Nassarawa Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency.
He defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) and secured a second term.
