Just few days to the 2023 Presidential Elections scheduled this weekend, FCTA commenced massive sensitisation of Abuja residents on the need to come out and exercise their franchise in a peaceful and orderly manner.
In particular, the Sensitisation Team enjoined residents to take advantage of the peaceful and friendly atmosphere created by the Hon. Minister of FCT, Mal. Muhammad Musa Bello to vote for candidates of their choice.
Also, residents especially artisans and other informal sector workers such as Okada and Keke riders were advised to ensure they confirmed their Polling Units and voting locations ahead of the Elections to avoid last minute rush.
Addressing residents in Kugbo, Nyanyan and Gbagalape suburbs in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Director of Department of Information and Communication, Mal. Sule Hazat, noted it is only when residents exercise their franchise in a violence-free that they can demand for good governance and accountability from those elected.
Sule, who was represented by Deputy Director of Information, Mrs Josie Mudasiru, also cautioned those intending to sell their votes to look elsewhere as the redesigned and cashless policies of government had eliminated such malpractices from taking place.
At the Federal Secretariat and UTC in the Central Business District and Area 10 respectively, the Sensitisation Team told workers to ensure they played their part well by coming out to vote enmass for candidates of their choice.
It was observed that some workers, who made inquiries regarding the elections were also promptly clarified and attended to by the Sensitisation Team comprising of FCTA staff and serving Corps Members in the Department.
Highlight of the event was the dishing out of audio messages through jingles in Pidgin and English Languages to enthusiastic passersby relayed through the Outside Broadcasting (OB) Van of the Department. The Team is scheduled to visit other areas like Kubwa, Dei-Dei and Dutse Satellite Towns amongst others.
