2025 Hajj: FCT-MPWB vaccinates intending pilgrims

Date:

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board (FCT-MPWB)  has commenced the immunization of intending pilgrims ahead of the 2025 Hajj exercise.

Speaking at the flag-off of the exercise recently in Abuja, the Director of the Board, Malam Kadiri Edah, described the immunization as a critical component of the pre-Hajj preparations, strongly recommended by the Saudi Arabian health authorities.

It was gathered that health officials were on ground at the FCT Hajj Camp in Bassan Jiwa, close to the Nnamidi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, to administer the vaccines, with a large turnout of intending pilgrims eager to fulfill the requirement.

According to the Board, over 4,000 pilgrims performed the Hajj through the FCT last year.

However, as of today, fewer than 2,000 have registered for this year’s pilgrimage.

This decline in registration is attributed to the increased cost of Hajj, which currently stands at N8.5 million per pilgrim.

The first batch of pilgrims from the FCT is scheduled to be airlifted to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the 6th of May.

Furthermore, authorities have urged intending pilgrims to complete all necessary medical and travel arrangements within the stipulated timeline.
