As preparations for the 2925 Hajj exercise kicked off, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) yesterday inaugurated a Committee for the screening and verification of the documents.
The committee is to check documents presented by Saudi based service providers which applied to provide accommodation and catering services to Nigerian pilgrims for the 2025 Hajj operations.
Peoples Daily reports that Saudi Arabian had come up with policy where only Saudi based companies would provide accommodation and catering services.
The inauguration of the committee was presided over by the Chairman/CEO of the Commission, Prof. Abdullahi Saleh.
The Committee is chaired by Prof. Abubakar Abubakar Yagawal, Commissioner Planning Research Statistics Information and Library Services (PRSILS).
The committee is tasked with the job of obtaining final list of eligible applicants, extracting and filtering eligible applicants and scrutinizing documents and prospects of the service providers.
The Committee is also to produce list of accredited service providers and make other recommendations that will assist the commission in making an informed decision.
Speaking at the inauguration, Prof Saleh charged the committee to ensure that only reputable and reliable service providers were selected to provide accommodation and catering needs for Nigerian pilgrims.
Emphasizing the importance of the exercise, he said the committee expected to play a critical role in ensuring the welfare and comfort of Nigerian pilgrims during the Hajj operations.
He said: “By selecting only the best and most compliant service providers, the Commission is safeguarding the integrity of the Hajj operations and upholding the trust placed in us by the Pilgrims.”already been arrested through the creation of both the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the ministry of Niger Delta Affairs,” he cautioned.
Amb. Dagogo equally called on the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, as well as other senators and National Assembly members from the South South zone to rise up and protect the Niger Delta Affairs ministry, which he said is the driving force for the development of the region.
