From Femi Oyelola in Kaduna
Following the recent gains from the deployment of non-kinetic approaches by the Kaduna State Government to tackle security challenges, the Kaduna State Chapter of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has urged the government to sustain the approaches.
The Chairman of IPAC in the State, Hon.Ahmed Tijjani Mustapha, stated this in his New Year messages.
According to him, the setting up of the Peace Dialogue Group, in collaboration with some Federal Government agencies, has been engaging stakeholders tirelessly to build bridges of trust.
He added that the efforts of the dialogue group were visible when the State Governor, Senator Uba San, I, received the first set of repentant bandits in Birnin-Gwari and reopened the cattle market, which had been closed for about 10 years due to insecurity in the area.
Hon.Ahmed Tijjani Mustapha, that the development is a breakthrough in the state government’s efforts to address the security challenges that have plagued the state for years.
He also said the Non-kinetic approaches also yielded results as the famous Kidandan Market shut down due to insecurity and was reopened recently by Governor Sani
The Kidandan Market, located in the Kidandan District of Giwa LGA of State, is a historical market but deserted because of the insecurity bedeviling the area.
He, therefore, advised that while the Security agencies are using the kinetic approaches to curb the security challenges, the State Government should continue with its non-kinetic approaches.
The IPAC Chairman also appreciated the road construction embarked on by the Uba Sani administration as a welcome development because building good-quality roads is critical to improving vehicular movement and giving businesses, especially farming in rural areas, an enablement to thrive.
