The Acting Chairman of the FCT Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS), Micheal Ango has issued a strong appeal to residents to fulfill their financial obligations to the territory, so as to sustain the world-class infrastructure in the city.
Ango, who spoke with the press on Wednesday in Abuja, reiterated that the FCT Minister remains committed to ensuring Abuja residents enjoy a high-quality living environment.
He emphasized, however, that such standards can only be sustained if the administration generates sufficient internal revenue to provide and maintain world-class infrastructure and essential social services.
Also, the Acting Chairman urged residents to be diligent in paying their taxes, fees, levies, ground rents, and all other charges due to the FCTA.
He said: “I’m sure we can all see what this revenue is being used for,” Ango stated, pointing to ongoing developmental projects across the capital.
“Where you are in default, the FCTA will have no option but to enforce our right to the revenue that is due to all of us as Abuja residents”, he stated.
He stressed the importance of voluntary compliance, as it is a collective responsibility toward the city’s future.
“We hope and pray that those who are in default will take this as an opportunity to comply and continue to comply and support the administration, so that we can all have a world-class capital city that we can all be proud of, in line with the vision of the Honourable Minister of FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike, and His Excellency, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu”, he concluded.
