As part of preparations for a hitchtfree 2026 hajj operations, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) yesterday, inaugurated the Committee to screen prospective Hajj Tour Operators.
According to a statement by Adeshewa Rasheedat Kako of the Information and Publications Division of the Commission, the Committee comprises management staff and representatives from the Secretariat.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Acting Chairman of NAHCON, Alhaji Alidu Shittu, described the inauguration as an important milestone in preparations for the 2026 Hajj exercise.
He noted that the Commission had full confidence in the competence and capacity of the members to deliver on the assignment.
He charged the Committee to thoroughly scrutinize all documents submitted by intending Hajj Tour Operators “seeking licenses for the 2026 exercise, ensuring validity, accuracy, and compliance with international best practices.”
He further directed the Committee to recommend slot allocations only to qualified and competent operators.
“You are expected to submit your recommendations to the leadership of the Commission for approval or otherwise, and produce a comprehensive report of your findings at the end of the exercise.”
He also reminded the Committee of the urgency of their task, stressing that the assignment must be completed within one week in line with the deadline set by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah for the 2026 operations.
He prayed for the committee to have a successful assignment, expressing optimism that its efforts would contribute significantly to the smooth conduct of the 2026 Hajj operations.
