Nentawe-Yilwatda

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has clarified why some serving governors were absent from the party’s ongoing screening exercise in Abuja.
Yilwatda said the affected governors were granted permission to attend to pressing official duties in their states, stressing that the party understands the demands of governance.
Speaking with journalists after the screening held at the Plateau Governors Lodge in Abuja, the APC chairman named Siminalayi Fubara, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and Francis Nwifuru as among those yet to appear before the committee.
According to him, the governors would be screened at their convenience once their schedules permit.
“Any governor who has issues to attend to, we understand,” Yilwatda stated.
He explained that the APC recognises the constitutional responsibilities of governors as chief executives and security leaders of their states, adding that the screening committee remains open to accommodate them anytime they are available.
“The Governor of Kwara said he has issues to attend to, so we excused him. The Governor of Rivers State also has issues to attend to, and we excused him,” he said.
Yilwatda further assured that the affected governors could contact the screening committee whenever they are free in order to complete the process.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that Governor Fubara is expected to appear before the screening panel on Sunday at the Plateau State Government Lodge in Abuja.
