The political landscape of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) witnessed a significant shift this week as chairmen of the six geo-political zones of the All Progressives Congress (APC) unanimously endorsed Hon. Sarah Ivie Adidi for the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
The decision was formalized during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting in the nation’s capital, drawing together party stalwarts and grassroots mobilizers to strategize for the 2027 general elections.
The zonal chairmen described Adidi as a “forward-thinking politician” capable of delivering the effective representation they believe the constituency currently lacks.
A primary focus of the endorsement was Adidi’s unique positioning to represent the non-indigenous population of the FCT.
Usman Mohamed, Chairman of the APC Forum for North Central (AMAC), emphasized that this demographic forms a massive portion of the electorate but has historically lacked a strong voice at the national level.
”Adidi’s track record of community engagement and her grassroots-driven approach make her well-suited to bridge the gaps in representation,” Mohamed stated.
Responding to the endorsement, Hon. Adidi characterized the move as a “vote of confidence” in her vision for public service.
She leaned into her academic and analytical background while maintaining a humble approach to the complex world of FCT politics.
She said: ”I may not know everything about politics, but I am willing to learn and work with the people. “You cannot lead in isolation. Together, we can achieve meaningful progress.”
This early endorsement is seen by political analysts as a strategic move to solidify the APC’s internal ranks well before the primary season.
By aligning the six geo-political zones behind a single candidate, the party aims to present a united front in what is expected to be a highly contested race for the AMAC/Bwari seat.
The zonal leaders concluded the meeting by calling on all party members to rally behind Adidi, stressing that unity will be the deciding factor in securing an electoral victory for the APC in 2027.
