The JAGABA/KAURA STUDENTS’ MANDATE 2027 has inaugurated campus ambassadors across tertiary institutions in Kebbi State to mobilise students for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Nasir Idris in the 2027 general elections.
The group said the initiative was designed to engage students, promote awareness of government policies and programmes, and mobilise support for the two leaders ahead of the polls.
The Kebbi State Coordinator of the movement, Comrade Faisal Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement, describing students as important stakeholders in governance whose participation could influence the state’s political future.
He said the campus ambassadors would serve as representatives of the movement in their respective institutions, organise discussions and engage fellow students on the achievements of the Federal and Kebbi State governments.
Abdullahi said the campaign would focus particularly on education, human capital development and youth empowerment, which he identified as priority areas of the Idris administration.
He cited the Federal Government’s Nigerian Education Loan Fund as one of the interventions aimed at improving access to higher education by providing financial assistance for tuition and students’ upkeep.
He also highlighted the Technical and Vocational Education and Training programme, which provides practical skills training in areas such as electrical installation, welding and digital technology.
According to him, the programme’s provision of stipends and starter packs for eligible beneficiaries would help young Nigerians secure employment or establish businesses.
The group also commended the Federal Government’s engagement with the Academic Staff Union of Universities, saying efforts to address staff welfare, university funding, research and working conditions were important to strengthening the country’s higher education system.
It further identified the Tertiary Education Trust Fund as a major intervention supporting research and innovation in health, agriculture and technology.
At the state level, the group praised Governor Idris for what it described as sustained investment in education through free education and scholarship programmes for eligible Kebbi students.
It also cited the recruitment of teachers, renovation and rehabilitation of schools, provision of learning materials and support for public examination fees as part of the administration’s interventions.
The movement said the development of mega-schools with academic and vocational components would expose students to technical and practical skills alongside conventional classroom education.
It also commended the reported extension of teachers’ retirement age to 65 years and their years of service to 40, describing the policy as an incentive to retain experienced teachers and strengthen the education sector.
The group added that scholarship opportunities had supported the academic advancement of Kebbi indigenes, including those pursuing postgraduate studies.
On youth development, Abdullahi said the state government’s vocational training, skills acquisition and entrepreneurship programmes were creating opportunities for young people to become economically independent.
He also identified women empowerment initiatives as part of the administration’s efforts to promote economic inclusion and improve livelihoods across communities.
Explaining the significance of the campus ambassador initiative, Abdullahi said students should not remain on the sidelines of conversations about governance and development.
He said, “The future of Kebbi State depends significantly on the quality of education and opportunities available to its young people.
“Students must therefore be active participants in conversations about governance, development and the future of our state.
“Our Campus Ambassadors initiative is intended to strengthen that engagement and ensure that students have access to information about policies and programmes that affect their lives.”
He added that the movement would continue to mobilise support for Tinubu and Idris because of what it described as their policies on education, improved learning conditions and economic opportunities for young people.
The coordinator urged students to participate actively in the 2027 elections and support the return of the President and the governor for second terms, arguing that continuity would promote sustainable development and accountable leadership.
