As the campaign activities is lifted tomorrow, 9th September, 2026, the Director-General of the Dr. Agbu Kefas Re-election Campaign Council, Hon. Danladi Baido, has called for a campaign that reflects the positive virtues of the governor.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Hon. Baido urged supporters and followers of the governor to maintain decorum throughout the campaign period and to engage in issues-based campaigns.
Hon. Baido reiterated the position of the Taraba State Government banning all forms of pre- and post-election violence.
“Campaigns are not wars and every side of the divide deserves a peaceful atmosphere to run for office.
“We should be mindful of the fact that our amiable governor, His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has already proclaimed and promulgated an anti-thuggery Executive Order. This, of course, is not limited to physical violence but also cyberbullying.
“Name calling, false accusations, outright insult, misinformation, and false alarms are all covered by the law against cyberbullying. Freedom of speech comes with deep responsibility because the consequences of its breach are equally dire. I urge younger and older campaigners to be mindful of what they put out as the laws will be in full effect throughout the campaign,” he said.
Speaking further, Hon. Baido urged all members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to remain steadfast and resist the urge to take the law into their hands when provoked, and admonished them to stick to issues in their promotional posts, adding that all is being done to make the campaign safe for all.
He also encouraged media practitioners to be fair and balanced in their reportage, noting that the Campaign Council will carry the media along as partners in peaceful campaigns.
