A national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, (NNPP), Rabi’u Kwankwaso, has declared that the party is willing to form an alliance with any political party or individual that shares its vision for a prosperous Nigeria and commitment to the welfare of the masses.
Kwankwaso made this known in an interview with BBC Hausa, monitored in Abuja.
He stressed that any merger or alliance must be anchored on mutual respect, clear benefits, and shared ideals, particularly the upliftment of the common man.
He said: “We’re ready for anyone, whether it is the APC, PDP, ADC, Jonathan, or Peter Obi. If we are satisfied with their competence and integrity, we will join forces to achieve success.
“But whoever we align with must be committed to improving the lives of Nigerians. If they fail to meet our expectations, we will not continue with them,”.
Kwankwaso reiterated that the NNPP, which fielded candidates across all states in the 2023 elections, had become a national force capable of influencing the political direction of the country.
He further said that he had hinted at the possibility of NNPP working with the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, stressing that such a move must come with tangible value for the NNPP structures and candidates.
The former lawmaker also lambasted Nigeria’s political elite, accusing them of neglecting the suffering of ordinary citizens while living lavishly in Abuja.
The confirmation followed the resolution of a protracted leadership tussle within the party, which had lasted for more than a year.
Speaking in Gusau, Hussaini confirmed the development, noting that the commission’s decision aligns with a court ruling that recognised the executives under the party’s national chairman, Barrister Adekunle Omaje.
The resolution, observers say, ends months of internal division that had weakened the party’s structure in Zamfara.
The ADC spokesman, Bolaji Abdullahi, disclosed the directive after the party’s caucus meeting held in Abuja.
“Though final order has been given to all members to resign membership of other political parties, the caucus was silent on the timeline,” he said.
Mr Abdullahi also disclosed that all the party’s presidential aspirants for 2027 had agreed to support whoever wins the primaries.
He added that the party denied any interest in registration or otherwise, stating that the All Democratic Alliance was seeking to be registered as a political party.
He noted that the National Working Committee (NWC) of ADC would announce the date for primaries to elect its candidates for the off-cycle governorship elections in Osun and Èkìtì.
Mr Abdullahi said that the meeting was attended by ADC national chairman, David Mark, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, national secretary Rauf Aregbeshola, and former Governor Nasir el-Rufai.
Others at the meeting include former Governor Aminu Tambuwal and former Governor Chibuike Amaechi, among others.
Peter Obi sent apologies but reaffirmed his commitment to the decisions made at the meeting, according to Mr Abdullahi.
